For many of us, and all my staff, traveling and crafting go hand in hand. Planning a trip means planning a project or projects and making sure there is enough room in the luggage for all that yarn!
Hand in hand with planning projects is planning visits to yarn stores. Last weekend I left for San Francisco to visit my son. The last time I was here (with 5 teenagers!), we went down to Monterey and I visited the yarn store that I think for me, gets “the best yarn store” label-Monarch Knitting. It wasn’t that the selection was more fabulous than any other, although it was plentiful and varied. It was more that the beautiful freestanding building with different angles and many windows allowed the healing CA sunshine to penetrate and light up everything within.
This time I visited Atelier Yarns in San Francisco. Their selection is fabulous, particularly interesting notions (including fancy scissors that sell for $160). It’s always fun to check out different spaces, see what people carry and look at their samples. Atelier has all original samples, and lots of them.
But better than that is sitting and relaxing and knitting in the CA sunshine. Ironically the weather is a bit colder here than back in PA, but the sun is still brilliant. Hope you are enjoying it wherever you are or wherever you travel.
